Laser-Induced Thermal Effects in Anti-Resonant Hollow-Core Fibers: A Finite Element Analysis

Anti-resonant fibers, characterized by their high laser-induced damage threshold and low nonlinearity, have emerged as critical media for high-power laser delivery. Research demonstrates their capability to transmit kilowatt-level laser beams over tens to hundreds of meters with efficiencies exceeding 95%, underscoring their potential for extreme-power applications. Yet, accurate assessment of damage thresholds in such fibers demands systematic investigation of thermodynamic behavior within their microstructures—particularly the coupled mechanisms of heat generation in solid glass matrices and heat dissipation through gas-filled channels. This study develops an electro-thermal coupled multi-physics model integrated with the Beer-Lambert law to simulate temperature evolution in ARFs during laser transmission.
