Intensity-interrogated hot-wire anemometer with cobalt-doped fiber Bragg grating heated and demodulated with the same laser source

An intensity-interrogated optical fiber hot-wire anemometer is proposed by using a cobalt-doped fiber Bragg grating (CD-FBG) heated and demodulated by the same laser source. Experimental results show sensitivity of -2401 μW/(m/s) at airflow velocity of 0.1 m/s and a measurement range of 0-8 m/s. The intensity interrogation method and single laser for heating and demodulation design simply the system structure and reduce the cost greatly, making it a promising solution for airflow velocity measurement in practical applications.
