Fault Ride-Through Modulation for Forced Soft-Switched Three-Phase Dual-Active Bridge Converter

The protection of dc networks, in particular medium-voltage dc networks, is not standardized yet. Several protection concepts for dc grids are under investigation, using solid-state and hybrid circuit breakers. This paper focuses on the breakerless dc grid concept and therefore on the fault ride-through capability of a forced soft-switched three-phase dual-active bridge converter. To achieve 0 V fault ride-through capability different modulations are investigated, taking into account the characteristics of high-power converters. Therefore, simulation and hardware results of realizable modulations are presented.
