The Development Trend of Optical Fiber Acoustic Sensing Signals for Partial Discharge of 110kV True Type Transformers

Based on the 110 kV true transformer test platform, this paper studies the application of the built-in acoustic sensor in the monitoring of partial discharge (PD) inside the transformer. As the core equipment of the power system, power transformers are prone to insulation defects during operation, which can lead to insulation breakdown or even equipment failure. By monitoring the acoustic signals generated by partial discharge inside the transformer, the insulation health status of the transformer can be effectively evaluated. In this paper, an integrated acoustic sensor based on the principle of optical intensity demodulation of fiber Bragg gratings is adopted. It is directly arranged inside the transformer to collect the acoustic signals of partial discharge, reducing signal distortion. The experimental results show that with the increase of the applied voltage, the amplitude of the partial discharge acoustic signal inside the transformer shows a significant growth trend, which can clearly reflect the changes in the discharge process. The builtin acoustic sensor has a good effect in monitoring the development trend of partial discharge, providing effective technical support for transformer fault early warning and health management.
