Trade off procedure to Optimize Geometrical parameters of a Magnetic Gearbox

A Magnetic Gearbox (MG) enables contactless torque transmission with advantages over mechanical gearboxes, such as silent operation, no wear, intrinsic overload protection, and high efficiency. This study examines how geometric variations in an MG affect eddy current losses in rotors, modulators, and magnets. Using factorial design 2^k and One Factor At a Time (OFAT) methods with Finite Element Analysis (FEM), results revealed nonlinear loss behavior due to spatial and temporal harmonic interactions in counter-rotating rotors. Adjusting the gear ratio from 5 to 5.5 led to more predictable losses.
