Design and Characterization of LED Solar Simulators for Photovoltaic Testing

The achievements in research on reusable clean energy prove that the use of such energy is essential for both economic and social development. Aiming to tackle a pressing issue—handling waste from solar energy production lines, particularly the replacement of solar panels—we were tasked with researching a method to effectively sort reusable solar panels, thereby supporting the recycling process. Throughout the lengthy process, we noticed that creating an effective solar simulator using conventional methods is costly and requires extensive maintenance. To address this challenge, we initiated the project: ‘Solar Simulator Using LEDs’. The research resulted in an efficient method for arranging LEDs to achieve optimal wavelength coverage, closely replicating sunlight. However, this approach presents challenges in terms of cost optimization and modulation. Nonetheless, the small LED array demonstrated that an LED-based solar simulator is feasible.
