Fixed-Time Sliding Mode Control for Axial Gap Self-Bearing Motor with Consideration of Load Torque

This paper presents a fixed-time slide mode control (FTSMC) control strategy to regulate the axial gap self-bearing motor (AGBM). As is well known, the load torque is considered the principal disturbance of the electric drive systems. Therefore, the ABGM is also affected by the load torque, which can degrade the performance of the speed controller. To address this issue, the FTSMC is developed with an expectation of disturbance suppression together with independence of reaching time to initial state values. To obtain the goal, a mathematical analysis of the motor and the proposed controller is given to show the accuracy and power of the utilized controller. Second, simulation and experimental studies are implemented to investigate the effectiveness of the given method. Some scenarios are used to test the performance of the FTSMC. The given results are good in the tested working conditions.
