The Role of Iot and AI in Green Buildings to Reduce Urban Heat Island Impacts

Urban Heat Island (UHI) impact increases energy use, heat-related diseases, and environmental deterioration. Enhanced by the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), green buildings provide creative ways to reduce UHI impacts. This paper comprehensively reviews IoT and AI technologies in green buildings, focusing on their role in reducing UHI impacts. Smart sensors and automated building management are examples of IoT-enabled technologies that allow real-time monitoring and optimization of energy and water use. By predicting UHI trends and maximizing thermal comfort, AI-driven techniques such as predictive analytics and machine learning improve building performance. IoT and artificial intelligence working together help to create smarter, more flexible green buildings. This study draws attention to the changing power of IoT and artificial intelligence in green buildings and advocates further adoption and research to support climate-resilient cities. Future paths include using digital twins, edge computing, and big data to improve UHI mitigation techniques.
