Photography and Lighting Techniques in Animation Between Digital Art and Modern Technology

Photography and lighting techniques greatly inform and enhance the visual dynamics of animation. In this study, the current study systematically investigates the impact of the use of traditional, 3D-rendered, and hybrid photography-based lighting techniques on viewer engagement, realism and aesthetics. This included experimenting with different lighting methods in animated settings, studying viewer reactions, and measuring bright consistency and realism perceptions. The results show that hybrid photography-based lighting results in the most engagement and realism, proving that it is effective for use in visually compelling animation. These findings point out the need of consideration of real-world lighting in our digital animation line, contributing not only to enriching storytelling but also in increasing audience engagement. This important study benefits animators and digital artists by making them conducive; to modern animation production in this case lighting.
