A Soft-Switched Dual Half-Bridge AC-AC Resonant Converter with Reduced Component for Multi-Load Induction Cooking Applications

Induction heating (IH) stands as a predominant technology in the market owing to numerous advantages over traditional heating methods. Most of the research has been concentrated on heating loads made of ferromagnetic (FM) materials. However, there is a growing focus on developing converter topologies which are suitable for both FM and Non-ferromagnetic (N-FM) material loads. In this paper, a dual frequency dual half-bridge AC-AC IH resonant converter topology is proposed for loads of both FM and N-FM materials. Independent power control is achieved with Pulse frequency modulation (PFM). Soft-switching is accomplished to provide a greater output power range. The proposed dual-frequency dual half-bridge converter's performance is assessed through MATLAB/Simulink software at output power level of 1.7 kW.
