Renewable Energy with SEPIC Converter and Butterfly Optimization for Grid System

Predicting renewable energy generation and electricity load is crucial for smart grid operation but remains challenging due to the intermittent nature of RE sources and the diverse behavior of power consumers. To address these issues, this paper introduces a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) that combines Photovoltaic (PV) systems with wind energy systems utilizes a Single Ended Primary Inductor Converter (SEPIC) for efficient voltage regulation. A novel of the system is the implementation of a Butterfly Optimized Proportional Integral (PI) Controller, to ensure superior voltage regulation and minimize component stress. The DFIG based WECS enhances power stability through a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) rectifier and a PI controlled PWM generator. Additionally, a bidirectional DC-DC converter enables battery energy storage and retrieval, ensuring uninterrupted power supply during fluctuating energy generation. MATLAB/Simulink simulations validate the proposed system, demonstrating improved energy efficiency, reduced voltage fluctuations, and enhanced transient response. The results highlight the system’s capability to enhance overall reliability, achieving an energy conversion efficiency of 95%, making it a promising solution for the integration of renewable energy into modern power grids.
