Modified Fault Tolerant Multilevel Inverter Circuit

Multilevel inverter topologies have garnered significant attention in recent years due to their modular configuration, which facilitate optimum integration of renewable energies. This is particularly crucial in modern power systems, where the efficient and reliable integration of intermittent renewable energies is essential for a sustainable future. However, one of the major challenges associated with multilevel inverters is the trade-off between the number of switches and the maximum number of voltage levels that can be produced. Decreasing the number of switches can compromise the reliability of the system, making it more prone to faults and failures. In this context, this paper proposes a novel single-phase fault-tolerant inverter topology that addresses the aforementioned challenges. The proposed inverter boasts a modular structure, which enables it to maintain its functionality even in the presence of faults. The topology is designed to bear both faults in devices, ensuring that the system can continue to operate seamlessly even when faults occur. The simulation of different modulation indices has been conducted using MATLAB/SIMULINK platform, and the obtained results have been validated.
