A Wheelset Size Measurement System Based on Multi-Line Structured Light

To meet the requirements for wheelset dimension inspection in rail transit, this paper proposes a non-contact wheelset dimension measurement system based on multi-line structured light. First, the working principle and hardware design of the system are introduced. Next, edge-enhanced semantic segmentation methods and improved grayscale centroid algorithms are respectively used to perform stripe segmentation and centerline ex-traction. Furthermore, a method for acquiring the tread curve based on spatial cross-sectional circle radius is presented for calculating wheelset dimension parameters. The system was experimentally validated in a simulated laboratory environment. Experimental results show that the accuracy of 0.5 mm for wheel diameter and 0.2 mm for flange thickness and flange height, which meets the actual measurement requirements.
