Position Control of Maglev Permanent Magnet Linear Motor Based on Adaptive Fast Terminal Sliding Mode

To enhance position control performance of maglev permanent magnet linear motor (MPMLM) servo system and expand its application in advanced manufacturing, an adaptive fast terminal sliding mode control (AFTSMC) strategy based on a fast terminal sliding mode surface is proposed. Compared to traditional sliding mode control (SMC), AFTSMC offers faster dynamic response and more stable current output. Furthermore, by incorporating a sigmod function into the control law, output current ripples are further reduced. Based on proposed AFTSMC strategy, an SMC position -PI current controller is designed to improve the dynamic response performance and stability of MPMLM servo system. Finally, simulations and experiments are conducted to verify AFTSMC strategy. Results indicate that MPMLM servo system achieves significant improvements in dynamic response and output current stability with the adoption of the AFTSMC strategy.
