Security Protection Technology for Embedded Devices Based on Instruction Set Architecture Heterogeneity

In recent years, embedded devices have been facing various security challenges. Traditional embedded systems usually adopt static and passive defense schemes, which lack sufficient flexibility and dynamism, thus making them easy targets for attackers. This paper introduces a mimic defense concept, and presents a new redundancy protection strategy, which uses heterogeneous instruction architectures to enhance the security of embedded devices. By utilizing different instruction set architectures for redundant design, it can significantly increase the difficulty and cost for attackers to analyze and attack the system. By distributing code, data, or tasks across multiple heterogeneous platforms for parallel execution, the system's defense capability can be effectively enhanced to resist threats from various attack methods. Experimental results show that the traditional model achieves attack success rates of 90 % and 96 % under single and multiple attacks, respectively, while the proposed defense architecture has an attack success rate of only 26 %. Compared with the traditional redundancy model, the proposed defense architecture improves the defense success rate by more than 70 % relative to the baseline model. This paper aims to provide more comprehensive and effective solutions to the security challenges of embedded systems through continuous research, ensuring their secure and reliable operation under increasingly complex security threats.
