Observer Design and Attitude Control for Dumbbell-Shaped Spacecraft Using a Fully-Actuated System Approach

This paper studies the attitude control problem within the fully-actuated control framework for a dumbbell-shaped spacecraft whose dynamics holds a more special and higher nonlinear and coupling in contrast to traditional flexible spacecraft. To this end, a typical high-order fully-actuated dynamics of dumbbell-shaped spacecraft is formulated first. A parameterized controller with full-state feedback is constructed and a state/disturbance observer is also proposed to estimate unknown state variables and disturbance. The proposed method offers a simpler and effective solution from a practical viewpoint. Numerical simulations validate the superiority of the method with comparison.
