Development of GUI for gem5-based SoC Architecture Simulation

Simulation plays a critical role in verifying functionality and evaluating performance during System-on-Chip (SoC) design. The gem5 simulation framework is widely adopted for its flexibility and extensibility. Although the gem5 GUI project was released five years ago, gem5 has undergone significant architectural changes, while the gem5 GUI remained unmaintained, resulting in it becoming nonfunctional. To address this issue, we developed a modified GUI compatible with the latest version of gem5, enabling SoC and board configurations through intuitive drag-and-drop interactions without requiring manual coding. Using this environment, we successfully constructed x86 and ARM-based board configurations and verified their correctness through end-to-end simulation scenarios.
