Cornering Attitude Control Based on LQR for Active Suspension System

In this paper, active suspension system is modeled and simulated to enhance vehicle stability and handling performance. Dynamic models are established for both quarter-car and full-car systems. For the quarter-car model, a Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control algorithm is proposed, with the state feedback matrix solved via lqr function. For the full-car model, a co-simulation framework integrating mechanical models with control algorithms is conducted. A LQR controller regulates high-speed steering posture during International Organization for Standardization (ISO) double lane-change test. The LQR quarter-car simulation demonstrates that vertical acceleration is reduced by 83% under uneven road excitation. Results for the full-car LQR simulation show that pitch and roll angles are hugely optimized, effectively suppressing understeer and oversteer tendencies and reducing handling difficulty.
