Regenerative Braking System Analysis and its Impact on the Growth of Electric Vehicles

As the automotive industry is developing day by day and shifting towards sustainability and zero carbon emission missions, the regenerative brake system plays a crucial role in achieving it. This study focuses on the advancement and prospects of regenerative braking systems in electric vehicles. The RBS, alongside cutting-edge automotive technologies, with the integration of government policies and incentives, is on the path of rapid growth. The market for regenerative braking systems is projected to reach a market value of $24.52 billion by 2026. Automotive companies like ZF, Hyundai, and Bosch are focusing on developing advanced braking systems that integrate regenerative and conventional brakes, enhancing efficiency and overall performance. This paper presents a simulation model of a regenerative braking system in a real-world application scenario using MATLAB (Simulink), which shows the system’s effectiveness in managing the energy flow in electric vehicles. The paper finishes by highlighting the possibilities of RBS in the automotive sector, contributing to longer range, high efficiency, and sustainability.
