Early-warning Method for Transmission Line Ice-coating Faults Based on Waveform and Multi-source Data

Due to the high altitude and cold, humid climate in the mountainous areas of Guizhou, the icing of transmission lines occurs frequently in June and July, which can easily cause short circuits, line breaks and other faults, posing a threat to the safe and stable operation of the power system. The existing icing fault detection mainly relies on manual line inspection and outdoor ice observation stations. However, due to the insignificant change in fault current, there are problems such as difficulty in detection, susceptibility to normal operations, low efficiency and poor accuracy, which cannot achieve real-time and accurate fault monitoring. In response to this phenomenon, this paper proposes an icing fault early warning method based on waveform analysis and multi-source data fusion. By combining meteorological data, zero-sequence current waveform characteristics and fault recording information, a dynamic early warning model is constructed, which solves the problems of insufficient accuracy of single data sources and lagging early warning. Through the verification of actual cases in the power grid, this method can accurately and timely warn of icing faults and significantly improve the efficiency of icing fault prevention and control.
