Prediction of the Phase Velocity of a Cylindrical Shell Immersed in Water by the Subtractive Clustering Approach Based on Sugeno Fuzzy Inference System

The purpose of this research is to forecast the phase velocity of ((Ai=l,2…) circumferential waves, that were detected in Acoustic pressure backscattered by a cylindrical tube submerged in water, using the fuzzy subtractive clustering approach and the Sugeno fuzzy inference system. By the fact of its excitation by an acoustic plane wave such that its wave vector is perpendicular to the z axis of cylindrical shell, circumferential waves are produced and propagate around the circumference cylindrical tube with varying ratios of radius b/a (a is greater than b). The investigated tubes in this paper are composed of cooper. The study aims to examine and exploit the results obtained by the eigenmode theory of resonances. The phase velocity calculated thanks to the theoretical method are utilized as data during the training and testing stages to ensure this model's adaptive ability. The fuzzy model is practically validated with various input sets, the mean absolute error (MAE) of this model's ability to forecast the phase velocity is about 0.02%. It could also be considered as a very effective tool to characterize and predict with a fairly convincing accuracy the phase velocities of these circumferential waves.
