IoT Based Smart Trash Bin for Level and Harmful Gases Indication System

Traditional waste management systems usually depend on fixed collection timetables and manual monitoring, resulting in serious inefficiencies. These include the overflowing of bins, wasteful collection trips, and the inability to detect toxic gases that have serious implications for human health as well as the environment. Such problems not only contribute to high operating costs but also lower the effectiveness of municipal waste management in general. To solve these problems, the LoRaWAN IoT-Enabled Trash Bin Level Monitoring System (IoT-TBLMS) has been created as an intelligent, data-based solution. The system combines Internet of Things (IoT) technology and long-range wireless communication to enable real-time monitoring of trash bin fill levels. Every bin is fitted with a Trash Bin Level Measurement Unit (TBLMU), consisting of an ultrasonic sensor to detect the fill level of the bin and a GPS module to monitor its precise location. TBLMU receives data and sends it through LoRaWAN, a low-power, wide-area network protocol, to a centralized monitoring server. The server will handle the received data and display it through graphical dashboards to facilitate improved visualization, analysis, and decision-making. The IoT-TBLMS offers several benefits: accurate and timely waste collection, reduced operational expenses, improved environmental protection, and optimized routes of collection. It is scalable, low in power usage, and is a dependable solution to deploy in cities, towns, and mega facilities. By substituting old manual processes with intelligent automation, IoT-TBLMS allows municipalities and waste management organizations to upgrade their operations. It provides a sustainable, efficient, and eco-friendly solution for managing urban waste, which is in line with the increasing need for intelligent cities and cleaner communities.
