Development of a Smart Mobility Device for Pediatric Cerebral Palsy Children with an Adaptive Assistive System for Enhanced Autonomy and Safety

Children with Cerebral palsy often face mobility challenges due to limited motor control, poor muscle coordination, and balance issues which requires continuous caregiver's assistance and support. The proposed project presents a smart mobility device customized particularly for such children to enhance safety, improve the interaction with caregiver, and ease of use. The implemented system integrates various sensors and communication modules such as Ultrasonic sensor which detect obstacles, an accelerometer to monitor Wheelchair's tilt to detect fall or tipping; in such events, a buzzer sounds to alert nearby people and a GSM module send both an SMS alert and a call notification to the caregiver. A Bluetooth module enables remote control via Arduino Bluetooth control app, and a panic switch allows manual emergency alerts by the user. Using a 12 volt rechargeable battery, for power and controlled by an Arduino Uno microcontroller to handle safety features is the core setup of this device. In future enhancements, GPS tracking, IoT-based monitoring, and voice control can be integrated to expand functionality and real-world applicability.
