Intelligent System for Controlling the Supply Voltage of the Excitation Winding of the Three-Phase Synchronous Generator

This paper presents an intelligent system made with Arduino Uno for controlling the supply voltage of the excitation winding of a three-phase synchronous generator. To create the experimental stand, a three-phase synchronous generator with electromagnetic excitation with a nominal power of 1 kW was used. The excitation winding is powered from a DC voltage source at a variable voltage in the range (50–100) V.c.c. The voltage signal from the voltage sensor is acquired through channel A1 of the Arduino Uno development board. To implement the proportional-integrative type regulation algorithm, the authors developed a program in the Arduino IDE programming language. Through this program, different values of the reference voltage are set in the range (2.5 - 4.0) V.c.c. After running the program for each value of the reference quantity, it was found that the intelligent control system implemented with the PI controller ensures the requirements imposed for the stable operation of the three-phase synchronous generator.
