A high-efficiency approach for active power filter configuration considering harmonic coupling effects

The prevalence of nonlinear loads in distribution networks renders the traditional localized management of active power filter (APF) economically unfeasible. Therefore, developing a globally integrated optimal configuration method for APF is crucial. However, most existing methods rely on a constant current source model for harmonic sources, which overlooks the coupling effects between harmonics of different frequencies in voltage and current, leading to inaccuracies. Additionally, most current research employs heuristic algorithms for APF placement and sizing, but traditional heuristic algorithms often encounter difficulties in finding optimal solutions efficiently. To address these problems, this paper employs a more accurate harmonically coupled admittance matrix model for harmonic source modeling and harmonic power flow calculations during the optimal configuration of APF. The paper also employs an improved genetic algorithm, informed by harmonic source information, to improve solution efficiency. Moreover, a predictor-corrector method is used to adjust the parameters of the harmonically coupled admittance matrix model, enhancing accuracy. This configuration method comprehensively considers the coupling effects between harmonic voltages and currents at different frequencies, leading to more accurate calculations and higher solution efficiency. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified through simulations on various IEEE node systems.
