Novel Module Architecture for Improved Stability of Perovskites in 1000 Hour Damp Heat Test

Photovoltaic (PV) energy is the fastest-growing form of energy production globally, and advancements in module design are critical to sustaining this growth. The Edge Sealed Module (ESM) architecture eliminates the vacuum lamination process and cross-linked encapsulants, significantly reducing manufacturing costs while improving reliability and high value recyclability. Prototypes of crystalline silicon (c-Si) modules have demonstrated enhanced durability in damp heat conditions and other accelerated stress tests. Initial results suggest strong potential for stabilizing perovskite PV modules as an alternative module architecture. Outdoor testing further highlights its robustness. The ESM’s ability to enable rapid prototyping supports the development of novel device architectures which are sensitive to degradation mechanisms. This innovation offers a cost-effective, scalable pathway for advancing both current and next-generation PV technologies.
