Research on Model Predictive Fault-Tolerant Control Strategy for Open-Circuit Faults in Five-Phase PMSM Based on Improved Vector Selection

This paper studied a model predictive fault-tolerant control strategy for open-circuit faults in five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on improved vector selection. Firstly, it enhances current control accuracy by introducing a virtual vector control set. Then, it also employs an improved vector selection method that directly obtains the reference vector and determines the optimal vector combination, without the need for complex derivations. Additionally, the duty cycle calculation is progressively optimized based on the concept of solving the extremum of the cost function. Constraints are introduced during the calculation process to prevent overmodulation. Compared to traditional control methods, the proposed MPFTC avoids reliance on the deadbeat control concept for both optimal vector selection and duty cycle calculation. This leads to improved control accuracy and parameter robustness. Through theoretical analysis and validation, the feasibility and superiority of the proposed MPFTC method are confirmed.
