An Improved Model Predictive Current Control for Open Winding Pmsm Based on Duty Ratio Control

To enhance the control performance of open winding permanent magnet synchronous motor (OW-PMSM) with common dc bus, an improved model predictive current control (MPCC) based on duty ratio (IMPCC-DR) method is proposed in this article. First, the voltage vectors(VV) generated by the dual inverter are considered uniformly and on the basis of which a 180° large vector is used for duty ratio modulation. Second, the duty ratio is simply calculated using the $q$-axis current deadbeat method, dividing the time of the positive VV equally between inverter 1 and inverter 2. Furthermore, redistribution of zero VV time suppresses the zero-sequence current (ZSC). Simulation results from MATLAB/Simulink show that the IMPCC-DR method significantly reduces current total harmonic distortion (THD) and ZSC ripple compared to conventional MPC.
