Dead-Beat Predictive Current Control for OW-PMSM Drives with Robustness Improvement

Deadbeat predictive current control (DPCC) offers superiorities such as instant dynamic response and simple parameter tuning, but its high sensitivity to parameter mismatches severely degrades control performance in practical applications. To address this issue, this paper proposes a simplified DPCC with robustness improvement (DPCC-RI) for open-winding permanent magnet synchronous motors (OWPMSMs) with common DC bus. Firstly, a real-time voltage reference vector distribution method is employed to suppress inherent zero-sequence current (ZSC) in OW-PMSMs by modulating zero-sequence voltage (ZSV) generated through active voltage vectors, thereby balancing the third-harmonic back electromotive force (EMF). Secondly, disturbances caused by parameter mismatches are compensated in the predictive model. Subsequently, a simplified robust controller is designed to compute disturbances based on the principle of cost function minimization, effectively reducing both the number of tuning parameters and system complexity. Finally, simulation results implemented in MATLAB/Simulink validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
