Developing English Pronunciation via Total Physical Response (TPR) and Learning Videos in Physical Education: A Case Study of Thai Grade 6 EFL Learners

Pronouncing words correctly is essential for good communication, especially for young EFL learners. However, a lot of students in preschool have trouble effectively in pronouncing sounds. A more participating and encouraging learning environment can be created by addressing this by implementing interesting techniques like learning videos and Total Physical Response (TPR). These methods help students learn pronunciation through movement and perception to develop speaking and listening abilities. The objectives of this research were 1) to study the ability to pronounce English vocabulary through learning videos and Total Physical Response (TPR) 2) to compare the academic achievement before and after learning through learning videos and Total Physical Response (TPR) 3) to study the confidence in using English in the context of physical education of grade 6 students after learning through learning videos and Total Physical Response (TPR). The sample group, which included thirty-five children in Grade 6/1, was chosen using purposive sampling. The research tools used in this study were 5 teaching English pronunciation in Physical Education lesson plans, pre-test and post-test, evaluation form of ability in pronunciation and the confidence form in English Usage in a Physical Education context. The data were analyzed by Mean, S.D. and t-test. The results have been showed that 1) the average ability in English pronunciation at high level (Mean = 3.48, S.D. = 0.53), 2) learning achievement after learning was higher than before learning with a statistical significance of.05, and 3) the average of the confidence in English usage in a Physical Education context was at high level (Mean $=3.50$, S.D. $=0.50$). The results of the study implied that learning videos and Total Physical Response (TPR) give positive effect to the students because the students could lean by themselves and take action to remember the vocabulary and they could pronounce the words correctly. It could be conclude that the students might practice various skills including watching, listening, pronouncing and acting.
