Throughput Maximization Through an Adaptive Dynamic Bandwidth Allocation in TWDM-PON

Next-generation passive optical network 2 (NG- PON2) is the latest high-speed access network standard approved by the International Telecommunication Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector. NG-PON2 as a solution for Time and Wavelength Division Multiplexed Passive Optical Networks (TWDM-PON) is developed to meet the ever-growing bandwidth requirements of broadband access users, especially for new applications in areas other than traditional residential and business access. This paper focuses on ensuring high Quality of Service (QoS) by satisfying the end users’ bandwidth demands. To achieve this, we propose employing matching game theory to efficiently allocate bandwidth resource classes. This approach ensures that traffic demands are met while prioritizing traffic effectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach enhances QoS parameters, such as throughput and packet loss rate (PLR), compared to other fixed PLR approach.
