Multi-Fault Tolerant Control for PMSMs Considering Interturn Short Circuits

In this publication the introduced multi-fault tolerant control for PMSMs is enhanced by a fault handling to compensate interturn short circuits (ITSCs). The basis of this control is the Subdomain Model, employing Maxwell equations for calculating the magnetic flux distribution with high accuracy, allowing an efficient adaption to motor-intrinsic electrical and magnetic faults. In a representative dynamic simulation it is shown that the control system clearly reduces the short circuit currents caused by the ITSC. In an additional simulation the multi-fault tolerance is demonstrated by compensating simultaneously an ITSC and a partial demagnetization fault.
