Performance Comparison of a Full-Bridge Based Reconfigurable and Conventional Battery Storage System

Unlike conventional battery storage systems, reconfigurable battery systems can generate a constant output voltage that is less dependent on the state of charge of the battery cells. As part of this work, this effect was quantified in simulation and an experimental setup. It could be demonstrated in different load scenarios that the root mean square current deviation from the target value of a reconfigurable battery system is up to 11.3 % lower compared to a conventional system, which benefits efficiency, battery life, thermal management and effective cell capacity.
