Characteristic Changes of Shaft Voltage According to the Manufacturing Process of WFSM

Bearing electrical erosion fault is one of the motor faults caused by shaft voltage, which reduces the reliability of motors and poses a threat to users across various industries. To mitigate bearing electrical erosion by reducing shaft voltage, it is essential to analyze the internal parasitic capacitance of the motor that induces shaft voltage and to develop countermeasures based on this analysis. In this paper, the variation in parasitic capacitance according to the winding arrangement during the manufacturing process of a wound field synchronous motor (WFSM) is analyzed. Based on this analysis, the impact of the manufacturing process (winding arrangement) on shaft voltage is investigated, and methods to address this issue are proposed.
