Crystallization Mechanism and Properties of Polypropylene Insulation Material for DC Cable Produced by Blending Method

As a thermoplastic material, Polypropylene has excellent electrical properties, mechanical properties and environmental protection properties, and therefore has gradually become a research hotspot of cable insulation materials. Through experimental testing and analysis, the performance of plastics with different ratios of three materials (including polypropylene with B9102 and K8003, and elastomers) in cable insulation was explored, focusing on their crystallinity, thermal stability, electrical properties and mechanical properties. The experimental results show that Polypropylene has good thermal stability at high temperature, the crystallinity and melting enthalpy increase significantly with the optimization of the ratio of three materials, the dielectric loss is low, especially in high temperature environment can still maintain good insulation performance, which means can improve compatibility between different components. In addition, the mechanical test again proved that with the change of the blended PP ratio, it can effectively improve the compatibility of the base material, so that the tensile modulus of the material increases significantly and enhance the mechanical properties. This study provides theoretical basis and technical support for the development of high-performance environmentally friendly cable insulation materials, which has important engineering application value.
