Preparation and Electrical Resistance Properties of Graft-Modified 4A Nano-Zeolite/XLPE Nanocomposites

Because of their superior insulating qualities, cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables are frequently utilized in high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) transmission installations. However, their shortcomings in electrical resistance performance have become more noticeable as the demand for power transmission has increased. In this work, TMPTAS-4A-HBP/XLPE nanocomposites are prepared by combining the modification techniques of grafting and nanodoping. These nanocomposites have high thermal conductivity HBP groups, TMPTAS groups for enhancing dielectric characteristics, and nano-zeolite doping. The dispersion of zeolite particles in the composites is observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the structure of the composites is characterized and examined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). To investigate the impact of grafting and TMPTAS-4A-HBP doping on the dielectric characteristics of XLPE, comparative tests are conducted. FTIR shows that TMPTAS-4A-HBP was effectively manufactured, and the results demonstrate that the surface-modified nano-zeolites are evenly distributed throughout the composites. Meanwhile, the breakdown performance of XLPE is much improved by the addition of TMPTAS-4A-HBP. With the improvement of $\mathbf{1 4. 5 \%}$ and 20.3% at 20°C and 60°C, the DC breakdown field strength of the 3wt%TMPTAS-4A-HBP/XLPE nanocomposite is higher than that of other materials at various temperatures. The composite marginally raises the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of XLPE, according to dielectric spectroscopic experiments, but the increase range is minimal and satisfies application requirements. Furthermore, adding TMPTAS-4AHBP to XLPE can increase the thermal conductivity. This study offers a fresh strategy for enhancing XLPE's insulating capabilities and is crucial for advancing the creation of highperformance dielectric materials.
