Dynamic Analysis and Study of Overhead Line Galloping Based on Finite Element Method

The environment of overhead lines is complex and variable, with diverse wiring configurations, making them susceptible to adverse factors such as strong winds and ice accumulation. The occurrence of galloping can severely threaten the stability of the power grid and the reliability of power supply. To investigate the various influencing factors and their relationships regarding line galloping, this paper establishes a three-dimensional model of overhead lines based on a finite element analysis platform. Through load calculations and simulation analysis, the effects of wind speed, wind direction, and ice accumulation conditions on the static and dynamic characteristics of the conductor are revealed, with a focus on analyzing the variation patterns of galloping amplitude, stress, and deflection angle. The results indicate that wind speed and direction jointly determine the displacement of line galloping. Ice accumulation exacerbates galloping, leading to significant increases in both stress and displacement deformation compared to lines without ice. Moreover, the form of ice accumulation has a significant impact on galloping, with elliptical ice accumulation causing more intense galloping and larger displacement amplitudes. This study provides guidance for the design, operation, and optimization of overhead lines in complex environments, with important implications for improving the stability of the power grid and the reliability of power supply.
