Comparison of Signal Integrity Simulation Tools: HyperLynx vs. Keysight ADS on eMMC Interfaces

This paper presents a comparative analysis of two industry-standard simulation tools, HyperLynx and Keysight ADS, focusing on signal integrity (SI) performance for a high-speed embedded Multimedia Card (eMMC) interface. Building upon prior work utilizing HyperLynx, this study extends the scope by incorporating Keysight ADS for pre- and post-layout simulations of the same interface. Metrics such as signal reflection, crosstalk, eye diagram quality, and timing performance are evaluated under identical conditions across multiple process-voltage-temperature (PVT) corners. This comparison serves as an educational resource for beginners, showcasing the benefits and difficulties of each simulation tool, therefore aiding them in developing a foundational understanding of signal integrity analysis and tool selection. Results highlight the accuracy, usability, and computational efficiency of each tool, offering insights into their suitability for high-speed design challenges.
