Integrated Hall-Effect Broadband Current Sensor for SiC Traction Inverter

This work presents the prototyping of a broadband purely Hall-effect current sensor designed for integration into a SiC traction inverter for automotive applications. The Halleffect sensor device is fabricated using the STMicroelectronics C090D BCD process and packaged in a quad-flat no-leads (QFN) configuration. Following a thorough characterization at the package level addressing both static and dynamic parameters, a magnetic concentrator is designed and simulated to adapt the device native dynamic range to $\pm 300 ~\mathrm{A}$, corresponding to the expected current values flowing in the inverter busbar. Preliminary measurements are conducted by placing the complete prototype inside the enclosure of a SiC traction inverter and evaluating its response under realistic operating conditions.
