Speed Control of Synchronous Reluctance Motor Based on Improved Super-Twisting Sliding Mode

Synchronous reluctance motor has been a hot research topic recently. In this paper, based on the traditional super-twisting sliding mode (STSM), an adaptive term-based multivariable STSM (AM-STSM) is designed. By adding an anti-saturation term to the integral term of the AM-STSM algorithm, an improved AM-STSM (IAM-STSM) algorithm is obtained, which effectively reduces the speed overshoot at startup caused by the saturation of the integral. To verify the performance of the IAM-STSM speed controller, a simulation model of the SynRM speed control system based on IAM-STSM is constructed with the help of Matlab/Simulink. The speed control system's speed characteristics at no load and sudden load are investigated. And further analyzed the anti-saturation term gain value and the amplification of adaptive term, on the speed control characteristics of the control system. The simulation results show that the speed control system using the IAM-STSM speed controller has better dynamic performance. Compared with the speed control system using STSM, the system based on the IAM-STSM speed controller has better dynamic performance with smaller speed overshoot during no-load startup, less speed drop during sudden load addition, and shorter recovery time.
