Application of a Programmable Logic Controller and Proportional-Integral-Derivative Algorithm to a Reamer

The reamer is crucial for cutter suction dredgers. Implementing constant power and constant speed control modes for the reamer can significantly enhance the construction efficiency of these dredgers and reduce energy consumption. This paper presents the use of an S7-1200 programmable logic controller combined with a G120C inverter, utilizing the proportional-integral-derivative algorithm to achieve these control modes. Experimental results indicate that the two control modes designed on this platform offer fast response speed and robust performance.
