A New Positive Output Boost Converter with Continuous Input and Output Currents

This paper presents a novel positive output boost converter (NPOBC) with continuous input current (CIC) and continuous output current (COC), which is beneficial for the design of input and output filters and the reduction of EMI in the circuit. The detailed working principle and steady-state analysis of NPOBC are discussed in continuous conduction mode (CCM). The small-signal modeling of NPOBC shows that it is a sixth-order circuit and type-II compensator is employed to stabilize the system. The corresponding comparison is listed to explain the advantages of NPOBC, such as CIC, COC, and low switch voltage stress. Finally, the validity of NPOBC is verified by a low experimental power prototype with the output voltage of 48V.
