Research on Functional Safety Evaluation of Steer-by-Wire System for Autonomous Vehicles

The rapid development of steer-by-wire technology has made existing testing methods unable to meet the safety and efficiency requirements of functional safety evaluation. This paper relies on an intelligent vehicle with Steer-by-Wire Steering Systems(SbW) to analyze the steer-by-wire architecture and establish functional safety objectives. Summarizing the fault types based on system decoupling characteristics, proposing test cases combined with typical vehicle operating scenarios, establishing a virtual simulation test environment based on the Vehicle-in-the-Loop Testing (VIL) platform, building a SbW fault injection test system, and conducting relevant experimental verification.
