Research on the Optimization of Heave Performance for Cylindrical FPSO Based on Surrogate Model

In the preliminary design stage of a cylindrical Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), the geometric parameters of the platform are critical factors affecting its hydrodynamic performance. This study employs an orthogonal experimental design method to determine the design variables and sample point distribution. Using AQWA software, the platform’s time-domain motion response over three hours was calculated, and the heave motion amplitudes of each test sample point were recorded. Based on the data obtained from numerical simulations, a surrogate model using radial basis functions was established. The optimization aimed at minimizing the platform’s heave motion amplitude, with roll and pitch motions as constraints. The results of this study can provide valuable reference for the design of cylindrical platforms.
