The Simulation Study on the Influence of Dust Particles Charging on the Electric Field Distribution Characteristics of Composite Insulator Surfaces

With the optimization of China's energy structure and the construction of the global energy internet, a large number of power transmission and transformation projects will pass through the Gobi Desert and desert areas. The unique wind and sand weather in these regions poses a severe challenge to the external insulation performance of transmission lines. Uneven distribution of pollution particles can cause uneven electric field distribution, alter the external insulation characteristics of composite insulators on transmission lines, and subsequently affect the reliable operation of the power system. This paper aims to study the impact of dust particle charging on the electric field distribution characteristics of composite insulator surfaces under wind and sand weather conditions in Gobi Desert regions. Through simulation, the influence of wind and sand particles on the electric field distribution of composite insulators is examined, and the electric field distribution curves of composite insulators under different dust charge and polarity conditions are obtained, thereby providing theoretical support for the study of the external insulation characteristics of transmission line insulators.
