SVG Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation in Offshore Wind Power Application

In recent years, the development scale of offshore wind farms has become larger, which also brings the problem of harmonic exceeding the standard, to which a filtering method based on SVG dynamic reactive power compensation device is proposed. Taking an offshore wind farm development project as an example, the optimal capacity and location of reactive power compensation under different operation modes are studied through theoretical calculations and software analyses, so as to obtain the optimal reactive power compensation scheme. Example results show that SVG can not only suppress harmonics and improve power quality by quickly and precisely regulating system reactive power, but also provide a flexible response to load changes in the system. The methodology may provide implications for the topic of power quality in subsequent offshore wind projects.
