Design and Finite Element Analysis of a 50 kW Permanent Magnet Motor for Underwater Unmanned Vehicle

Aiming to meet the application requirements of high torque density, high efficiency, and low vibration for permanent magnet motors used in underwater unmanned vehicles, this paper presents a design method that integrates magnetic circuit design with the finite element method. It outlines a specific design workflow of permanent magnet motor for underwater unmanned vehicles. Using a 50-kW permanent magnet motor for underwater unmanned vehicles as a case study, the basic dimensions of the stator and rotor are determined through magnetic circuit design. The rotor pole shape is designed using the finite element method, and various losses and efficiencies of the motor are calculated, demonstrating that the design meets the technical requirements effectively.
