Design and Analysis of a 3-D Magnetic Field Modulated Transverse Flux Linear Machine for Aviation Actuator

This article investigates the three-dimensional (3-D) modulation effect of transverse flux linear machine. For the traditional linear machine with the same plane magnetic flux path, there is a coupling relationship between the electrical and magnetic loads, which limits the development of thrust force density. In this paper, a novel Magnetic Field Modulated Transverse Flux Linear Machine (MFM-TFLM) is proposed. Based on the 3-D modulation effect, the proposed MFM-TFLM exhibits a significantly higher thrust density. The translator, constructed from laminated silicon steel sheets, is particularly well-suited for applications requiring long stroke lengths. Firstly, the topology and operating principle of the machine are introduced. Subsequently, it delves into the analysis of 3-D magnetic field modulation, optimizes the translator design, and evaluates the electromagnetic performance of the machine. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the proposed structure is verified by the analysis results.
