Harmonic Generation in Modified Relativistic Magnetron with Diffraction Output

The A6 Relativistic Magnetron with Diffraction Output (MDO) has been thoroughly investigated. To enable operation in the n-mode, the cathode radius of the magnetron was reduced. The π-mode radiation from the magnetron is extracted axially by selectively tapering the anode cavities that align with the symmetry of the radiated modes, directing it onto a conical antenna. The structure was simulated using the CST Particle-In-Cell (PIC) code, which revealed a novel phenomenon of harmonic generation. This phenomenon was subsequently validated through experimental studies. Furthermore, the frequency content observed in the simulations closely matches the experimental results, demonstrating strong agreement between theoretical predictions and practical outcomes.
