A Comparative Study of Weather Prediction Models: GFS, ECMWF and ICON for Coastal Area

This study evaluates the efficiency of three prominent weather prediction models-GFS, ECMWF and ICON-for forecasting meteorological parameters in a typical coastal area of India. Model-predicted data was compared with ground-truth data collected from an Automated Weather Station (AWS) installed at a Meteorology (MET) site along the coast. Simple data difference between prediction and real-time is used for evaluation. The results highlight model-specific strengths and weaknesses, with implications for improving localized weather forecasting in coastal regions.
